Lesotho officially the Kingdom of Lesotho is an enclaved, landlocked country in southern Africa completely surrounded by South Africa. Any trip to Lesotho is highlighted by a visit to Katse Dam. This is the centrepiece of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project which transfers the water of the Lesotho Highlands via an incredible conduit of dams and tunnels through the mountains, eventually dispelling out onto the plains of South Africa's Free State Province. Water levels permitting, the best time to fly fish these rivers is the beginning of September to the end of November and then from March to mid May. December, January and February coincide with our rainy season, but these are great months to fish if the rivers are clear and weather permits. There are catchment river frontage areas where water clears rapidly after heavy rains and are utilised in these circumstances.
